Do Royals Still Prefer Marrying Other Royals?

Baroda Maharani Radhikaraje Gaekwad has recently sparked a debate over royal marriages. She talked about whether royal families prefer to marry within their own circles when she was on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast.

Gaekwad replied, “Preferably, yes,” when asked if “royal people only get married to royals.” Families usually want their children to marry within a similar family, like an arranged marriage. She explained that this is common in traditional communities, explaining that Gujaratis usually marry Gujaratis.

She also noted that marriages with non-royals are quite common and that outsiders are generally accepted into royal families .Gaekwad pointed out that marrying within the royal circle was more about preference, similar to how many traditional Indian families do.

It might be difficult। We were raised in palaces and were taught a certain degree of love and respect. She explained that adapting to life outside royalty can be difficult. She pointed out that although love may initially overshadow status, deep-rooted traditions can later cause problems.

Her remarks have received different responses. Her ideology was supported by some, saying it represented social beliefs, while others said it respected the dynasty. Both the financial aspects of royal marriages and the historical context of British exploitation of Indian royalty were emphasized by one commenter.

Radhikaraje Gaekwad was born into the Wankaner, Gujarat, princely family. She married Samarjitsinh Gaekwad of Baroda.

Her comments have started a discussion about the complexities and customs of royal marriages in modern india .
