Dharmendra Pradhan Unveils ‘CRIIIO 4 GOOD’ Modules for Gender Equality Empowerment

Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched ‘CRIIIO 4 GOOD’, a new online, life skills learning modules, to promote gender equality among girls and boys.

The programme was launched in association with the International Cricket Council, UNICEF, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Minister for Tribal Development, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education, Government of Gujarat, Dr. Kuber Dindor; Minister of State, Parliamentary Affairs, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education, Higher Education, Shri Praful Pansheriya; Representative of UNICEF, Ms. Cynthia McCaffrey; Honorary Secretary, Board of Control for Cricket in India, Shri Jay Shah; Indian cricketer and Celebrity Supporter for ICC-UNICEF CRIIO 4 GOOD initiative, Smt. Smriti Mandhana; Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Shri Sanjay Kumar; officials of the Ministry of Education and UNICEF, and over 1000 children were also present for the event.

Speaking at the occasion, Shri Pradhan emphasised the importance of gender parity and equal opportunities as a core concept of NEP 2020. Through CRIIIO 4 GOOD, he continued, the influence of sports and the popularity of cricket can be utilised as a tool to empower girls and raise awareness of gender parity.

He talked about how the passing of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which put India at the forefront of women-led development, allowed the nation to witness history being made.

Over a thousand schoolchildren were exposed to the first CRIIIO 4 GOOD learning modules at the stadium by Smt. Smriti Mandhana. The programmes are quite interesting and use cricket as a fun, interactive tool to discuss gender equity and important life skills with both boys and girls.

Eight animated films based on cricket called “CRIIIO 4 GOOD” are intended to encourage female sports participation, advance gender equality, and give females life skills. The ICC and UNICEF launched these modules to encourage kids and teens to adopt important life skills and understand the significance of gender equality by leveraging the appeal and enthusiasm of cricket among young audiences.

The programme is available for free on criiio.com/criiio4good and is available in Gujarati, Hindi, and English.

The eight modules’ themes—leadership, problem-solving, confidence, negotiation, decision-making, empathy, teamwork, and goal-setting—are illustrated through cutting-edge animation utilising examples from cricket. These films are realistic and accessible because to extensive research on regional quirks.
