The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has launched the ICSSR Research Internship Programme in Social and Human Sciences, aiming to equip postgraduate students with advanced research skills to address contemporary challenges.
The programme was inaugurated by Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan in Delhi on December 5.
The program also celebrated the winners of the National Argumentative Essay Writing Competition, titled ‘Simultaneous Elections in India: One Nation, One Election’. The aim is to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical employability for young social scientists.

- Highlights the evolving nature of jobs driven by advancements like AI.
- Links the initiative to the vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat).
- Integrates modern educational practices with traditional knowledge systems.
- Offers internships in diverse domains like sociology, applied psychology, statistics, public health, international relations, development studies, and anthropology.
- Incorporates workshops addressing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Selects 40 interns from across India for workshops and skills development.
By integrating conventional expertise with cutting-edge approaches, the ICSSR internship program demonstrates the government’s commitment to furthering social science research and developing the next generation of innovators and thought leaders.
