Delhi’s LG, CM Kejriwal Launch 400 Electric Buses, Leading the Nation’s Fleet

400 electric buses were inaugurated today by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, bringing the total in the national capital to 800. The IP Depot in Delhi hosted the flag-off ceremony.

There are now 800 electric buses operating in Delhi. At the ceremonial start-up, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot stated, “I want to congratulate Delhiites on this. Later, Mr. Kejriwal broke down the budget expenditure for the buses in a post on X.

Together with the Honourable Lieutenant Governor, we now dedicated 400 brand-new electric buses to the people of Delhi.

According to Mr. Kejriwal in a post in Hindi, “These buses are part of the 921 buses under the subsidy scheme, for which a subsidy of 417 crore has been given by the Centre and the Delhi government will spend 3,674 crore.”

Delhi now has the biggest number of electric buses in the nation—800—on its roadways, he claimed.

“By the end of 2025, we hope to have 8,000 electric buses operating on Delhi’s roads. At that time, Delhi would have more than 10,000 buses, with 80% of them being electric.
