As of this morning, Delhi’s Minister of Education, Atishi, has ordered that all primary schools close until November 10.
The increased pollution in the city and its environs has prompted the announcement of closings of schools.
“As pollution levels continue to remain high, primary schools in Delhi will stay closed till 10th November. For Grade 6-12, schools are being given the option of shifting to online classes,” she posted on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).

For Grade 6-12, schools are being given the option of shifting to online classes.
For now, only primary schools have been ordered to stay closed. All schools have been given the option of conducting online teaching for classes 6 to 12.
The capital’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, had said that all public and private primary schools will be closed for two days prior to this extend of the shutdown period. This has been postponed till November 10 from its original dates of November 3 and 4.
The air quality index in Delhi dropped from 415 on Saturday at 4 pm to 460 by 7 am on Sunday, putting the city’s pollution levels in the severe plus category. According to a Saturday Air Quality Early Warning System estimate, the AQI is expected to stay “severe” through November 7.
