Delhi Drowns: Gautam Gambhir Slams AAP, Urges Citizens to ‘Wake Up’

Former cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir criticised the Arvind Kejriwal administration and called on the people of Delhi to “wake up” as various areas of Delhi were drowned as a result of an unusual spike in Yamuna’s level.

“Wake up, Delhi. Delhi has become a gutter. Nothing is free, this is the PRICE!!,” the East Delhi MP wrote, mocking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s plans to provide free utilities to residents of the national capital.

BJP leaders accuse the AAP government of incompetence and a lack of preparation for the Yamuna flood. The AAP government argues the situation is unprecedented and prioritises protecting lives. Flooding in crucial places, including the VIP zone near the Chief Minister’s residence and the Delhi Assembly, has been addressed using emergency measures.

Delhi is experiencing flooding-like conditions as a result of a Haryana barrage’s massive discharge, despite the city not having received much rain recently. The AAP government sought the involvement of the central government to restrict the discharge of water but was told that the Haryana barrage, which had become swelled because of the monsoon mayhem in north India, had to release additional water.

Mr. Kejriwal launched a raft of emergency measures following a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. He announced that Delhi’s schools and colleges would be closed through Sunday and that all government offices would switch to a work-from-home policy.
