The PWD department sealed Chief Minister Atishi’s official residence on Wednesday due to alleged unauthorized use. Notably, following Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation as Delhi chief minister, the CM’s home was abandoned. Later, after Atishi was appointed CM, he moved to it. The PWD intervened after there was a disagreement over the CM house’s handover and departure.
Delhi CMO says belongings forcibly vacated
Reacting to the development, the CMO in a statement said that the ‘Delhi CM’s residence’ at 6, Flagstaff Road was forcibly vacated at BJP’s behest as LG wants to allot it to a BJP leader.
The CMO added that for the first time in the history of the country, the Chief Minister’s residence was vacated and on the instructions of BJP, LG forcibly removed CM Atishi’s belongings from the CM residence.
The CMO added that the LG is preparing to allot the CM residence to a big BJP leader as the BJP, which has been in exile in Delhi for 27 years, is now trying to occupy the CM residence.
However, there was no immediate reaction to these allegations from the LG office or the BJP.
The CMO further stated that the belongings of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi were also removed from the residence, which was earlier occupied by her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal.
What Sanjay Singh said on this issue
Earlier in the day, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said that officers were not allotting the bungalow to CM Atishi and her camp office there was also vacated.
BJP reacts to sealing of Delhi CM’s residence
“Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘sheesh mahal’ has finally been sealed. How was he staying in the ‘sheesh mahal’, which didn’t receive completion approval from authorities? He also wanted his CM (Atishi) to stay in that house. What’s hidden inside that house?” said Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva.
