On August 22, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approved a proposal to establish public holidays from September 8-10 in anticipation of the G20 Summit, which would be hosted in the national capital.
According to the chief minister’s order, all schools in the city, as well as offices of the Delhi government and municipal corporations, will be closed for three days.

On August 18, Special Police Commissioner Madhup Tiwari of the Delhi Police wrote to the chief secretary, requesting that the government declare a public holiday from September 8 to 10 and issue instructions for the closure of commercial establishments, primarily in the New Delhi area, in anticipation of the G20 Summit.
