The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is actively implementing measures to prevent the spread of dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and other vector-borne diseases in preparation for the upcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit in Delhi.

To address this concern, the MCD has initiated a series of preventive actions, including over 1 lakh daily inspections by malaria inspectors, Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBCs), field workers, and officials from the Public Health Department. Additionally, specialized drives and awareness campaigns at the ward level are being intensified across the city’s zones.

Key steps taken include:

  • Over 3,000 Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBCs) and 2,000 field workers are actively engaged in detecting and eliminating mosquito breeding sites.
  • MCD teams have conducted 2,48,50,956 house visits and carried out anti-mosquito spray operations in 7,89,995 houses, buildings, and residential premises. Legal notices and challans have also been issued as part of enforcement measures.
  • Citizens are being urged to prevent water stagnation to curb mosquito breeding.
  • Construction sites, parks, nurseries, hospitals, schools, and government offices are being specifically targeted in special drives.
  • MCD has introduced larvivorous fishes in 189 water spots to control mosquito breeding.
  • Public awareness efforts include waste collectors broadcasting audio messages about breeding sites and preventive measures, distribution of hand bills, stickers, banners, and conducting major awareness campaigns involving public representatives, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), and market associations.

WhatsApp groups have been established to address complaints and enhance public awareness about preventive measures.
