A massive fire erupted in the recent past at Mayur Vihar Phase 2, Delhi, late Sunday night. The reason for the glare could be related to a uniform manufacturing shop or a new cafe located close to the Neelam Mata Temple. The DFSP staff has been fighting since midnight; 23 fire tenders rushed to the spot to control the outbreak that engulfed all three floors of the building.
According to SK Dua, deputy chief fire officer of the Delhi Fire Service, the fire started in the cafe and then spread throughout the multi-storey building. The call regarding the fire was received by Delhi Fire Service at about 11:40 pm last night, the officer informed. “We were told that Jung Cafe here caught fire. When we reached here, the fire had reached all three floors of the building,” Dua said on Monday.
One person was rescued by the Fire Department from the roof of the building. One firefighter was also injured during the extinguishing process. Fortunately, none of those present in the building died.
“A total of 25 fire trucks are here. No casualty has been reported as of now. We rescued one person who was in the office on the terrace on the third floor. One person from the team, however, has been injured due to the massive fire. There is no proper ventilation system here, which is why the fire spread. Only 12 to 15 shops have been affected by the fire. The fire is now under control,” the deputy fire officer stated.
