Deepika Padukone and Raftaar-Backed Startup FrontRow Shuts Down, Co-founder Reveals

FrontRow, an education platform backed by celebrities Deepika Padukone and Raftaar, has announced the cessation of its business operations. Co-founder Ishaan Preet Singh revealed this development, stating that the startup officially ceased regular operations on June 30. After significant layoffs last year, the company had returned to its position as a seed business with a reduced workforce.

The Shutdown Process and Future Plans: Ishaan Preet Singh shared that the company is exploring potential purchase agreements for the platform and its team while considering the possibility of returning the capital. The board and co-founder will make a decision on this matter in the coming months. Singh mentioned that FrontRow had conducted various experiments in the non-academic learning space, including holistic development for children and career-focused education for adults.

Investors and Funding: FrontRow had raised approximately $17.2 million (Rs 130 crore) from investors like Elevation Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Kunal Shah (Cred), Gaurav Munjal (Unacademy), and Farid Ahsan (ShareChat).

Future Considerations and Market Analysis: Singh stated that discussions are ongoing regarding the company’s future positioning, including assessing whether the market is conducive for a standalone player or if integration within a larger multi-category firm would be more suitable. He emphasized that FrontRow had made significant progress and achieved margin positivity, but remained a small-scale company.

Deepika Padukone’s Entrepreneurial Ventures: Deepika Padukone, known for her entrepreneurial spirit, established KA Enterprises in 2014 to invest in startups with consumer prominence. Despite the setback of FrontRow’s closure, Deepika continues to explore new opportunities and has established a strong presence in both the business and entertainment industries. Alongside her acting career, she has achieved success in the skincare sector and garnered a dedicated fan base.

FrontRow, a startup supported by Deepika Padukone and Raftaar, has officially ceased its operations. The company is currently considering purchase agreements and evaluating the possibility of returning capital. Despite this setback, Deepika Padukone remains actively involved in various business endeavors and continues to make strides in both her acting career and entrepreneurial pursuits.
