Congress on Wednesday announced its third list of Lok Sabha candidates which includes 56 names while one seat has been marked for alliance partner.
“The third list of names of Congress candidates on 57 Lok Sabha seats for the Lok Sabha elections, 2024 was released in the meeting of the ‘Central Election Committee’ held under the chairmanship of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge,” the grand old party said in a social media post.
In the second list of 17 candidates announced by the Congress for the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka, notable names include the children of ministers and family members of prominent leaders.
Priyanka Jarkiholi, daughter of Satish Jarkiholi, will contest from Chikkodi, while Sowmya Reddy, daughter of Ramalinga Reddy, is the candidate for Bangalore South.
Other candidates include Samyukta S Patil, daughter of Shivanand Patil (Bagalkot), Mrinal Ravindra Hebbalkar, son of Laxmi Hebbalkar (Belgaum), and Sagar Khandre, son of Eshwar Khandre (Bidar). Mansoor Ali Khan, son of former deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha K Rahman Khan, will contest from Bangalore Central, and Prabha Mallikarjun, wife of minister S S Mallikarjun, will contest from Davangere.
Radhakrishna Doddamani, son-in-law of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, will be the party’s candidate from Gulbarga (Kalaburagi).
The Congress announced five more candidates from Rajasthan, including AICC secretary Kuldeep Indora from Ganganagar and former minister Pramod Jain Bhaya’s wife Urmila Jain from Jhalwar-Baran seat, for the Lok Sabha elections.
The party has left the Sikar parliamentary seat for the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
The list includes names for seats from Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, West Bengal and Karnataka.
