The foreign ministry stated on Tuesday that China is prepared to cooperate with India in order to improve mutual trust via communication and conversation and to handle disagreements with honesty and integrity.
When questioned about the planned border meetings between Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi this week, ministry spokeswoman Lin Jian made the comments.
Since deadly border battles strained relations four years ago, Wang and Doval are scheduled to meet in Beijing on Wednesday as part of their “special representatives dialogue” arrangement.
“China stands ready to work with India to implement the important consensus reached by the two countries’ leaders, respect each other’s core interests and major concerns… and bring bilateral relations back to a stable and healthy development track at an early date,” Lin stated at the ministry’s regular press conference.
Days after the two nations agreed to patrol their disputed border in order to settle a four-year military standoff, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Russia in October.
Both leaders agreed to boost communications and resolve conflicts and differences, directing their officials to take further steps to stabilise all aspects of bilateral ties.
