Chandrayaan-3 Live Updates: Communication Established with Chandrayaan-2 Orbiter

Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar mission, has reached a significant milestone by establishing two-way communication between the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter and its lander module. Launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on July 14, the mission is on track to achieve a historic soft landing on the Moon’s surface. This momentous event not only piques curiosity but also ignites a passion for exploration among the nation’s youth.

The lander module of Chandrayaan-3 is anticipated to touch down on the Moon’s surface at approximately 6.04 pm on August 23. This event is eagerly awaited and will be telecast live starting from 5.20 pm on August 23.

Once the Lander Module successfully reaches the lunar surface, it will initiate the deployment of its diverse payloads. These payloads include the Chandra’s Surface Thermophysical Experiment (ChaSTE), designed to measure temperature and thermal conductivity. Additionally, the Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) will gauge seismic activity in the vicinity of the landing site. The Langmuir Probe (LP) will estimate plasma density and fluctuations, while a passive Laser Retroreflector Array from NASA will facilitate lunar laser studies.

The rover, known as Pragyan, will play a pivotal role in the mission’s exploration phase. Equipped with advanced instruments such as the Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) and the Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS), Pragyan will analyze and identify elements present in the landing site’s immediate surroundings. This rover’s contribution promises to provide valuable insights into the Moon’s composition.

ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission’s accomplishments have captured the attention of the world. By successfully establishing communication with the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter and preparing for a soft landing on the Moon, the mission exemplifies India’s prowess in space exploration. The various payloads and the rover Pragyan’s exploration activities further enhance the significance of this endeavor, fostering a spirit of curiosity and discovery within the nation’s youth.
