The Tamil Nadu government will get ₹ 944.8 crore in two installments from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to aid with relief efforts following Cyclone Fengal, according to an official announcement from the Home Ministry.
The government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guided by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is working hand in hand with states hit by natural disasters to alleviate people’s suffering, according to a statement.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the release of ₹ 944.8 crore to the Tamil Nadu government as both the installments of central share from the SDRF to help the state in providing relief assistance to people affected by cyclone Fengal on November 30, it said.
To examine the damage immediately, an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) has been dispatched to Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, which are devastated by Fengal.
According to the announcement, further financial aid from NDRF would be authorized for the states impacted by the catastrophe in accordance with the established process upon receipt of the assessment reports of IMCTs.
This year, the federal government has already disbursed around ₹21,718.716 crore to 28 states. According to an official announcement from the Home Ministry, the Central government has authorized the payment of 944.8 crore rupees to the Tamil Nadu government in two installments of the central share from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to assist it in providing relief to those impacted by Cyclone Fengal.
