The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained KB Singh, Executive Director of the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), on Tuesday for accepting a Rs. 50 lakh bribe.
Four additional people, including the one who provided the bribe, have also been detained. Singh’s home in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was the target of hours-long raids before the arrest was made.
According to the CBI, Singh asked for the bribe in return for favour on a GAIL project.
Additionally, searches were being carried out in a number of places in Delhi, Noida, and Visakhapatnam.
The largest firm in India for the transmission and sale of natural gas is GAIL, a Maharatna enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
