The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 is scheduled for November 24, 2024, in a computer-based format with three sessions. The exam is conducted in test centers across 170 cities and has been released for 3.29 lakh eligible candidates on November 5, 2025. The institute has taken additional security measures, including employing mobile jammers in select locations.
A mock test with indicative questions was scheduled on its website for students to understand the exam’s format and interface. CAT 2024 is a prerequisite for admission to various postgraduate and fellow/doctorate programs of IIMs and is also used by listed non-IIM member institutions.
The results are expected to be released by the second week of January 2025. The list of shortlisted candidates will be available on the respective IIMs’ websites, and each IIM will send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly. The criteria for shortlisting vary across IIMs.
The scores of candidates will undergo a normalization process to ensure fairness and equity in comparison of performances across different test sessions. This process adjusts for location and scale differences of score distributions across different forms, and the scaled scores will be converted into percentiles for shortlisting purposes.
Scaled scores for each section (Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Section III: Quantitative Ability (QA)) and total along with the percentiles will be published.
