Bobby Deol recently opened up about a challenging period in his career when he found himself out of work and reached out to various industry colleagues, including Karan Johar, for opportunities. In a candid conversation on the popular talk show “Koffee With Karan,” hosted by none other than Karan Johar himself, Bobby, along with his brother Sunny Deol, shed light on their ‘low phases.’
Sunny Deol, sharing a similar experience, recalled how he had requested Akshay Kumar to avoid a box office clash with his film “Gadar 2,” but his plea went unanswered. The Deol brothers’ frank discussions brought to light the often harsh and unpredictable nature of the film industry.
Bobby Deol’s struggles during that period took a toll on him, as he confessed, “I gave up, I started pitying myself. I just took on drinking a lot, I was sitting at home. I used to keep cursing and saying, why don’t people take me? I am good, why don’t they want to work with me? I think I became so negative about everything, that there was no positiveness coming from me.”
The turning point came when Bobby realized the impact of his struggles on his family. He recalled hearing his son say, “You know mom, papa sits at home, and you go to work every day.” This moment was a wake-up call for the actor. He recognized that he couldn’t allow himself to wallow in self-pity.
Bobby explained, “It was a slow process when I got out of it, it took me time to get into the right mind frame to become okay. It can’t happen overnight.” He went on to emphasize the importance of self-reliance, saying, “You cannot always do anything holding someone’s hand. You have to walk on your two feet.”
The actor’s resilience paid off, as he gradually transformed his mindset, becoming more focused and serious about his career. He reached out to numerous individuals in the industry, expressing his desire to work with them. Despite his efforts, he expressed his disappointment, saying, “I came to you also, you still haven’t worked with me.”
Looking ahead, Bobby Deol has an eagerly anticipated project on the horizon. He is set to appear in the film “Animal,” alongside renowned actors Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Anil Kapoor.
