BharatPe Co-founder Ashneer Grover and Wife Halted at IGI Airport Amidst EOW Probe

In a recent turn of events, the economic offences wing (EOW) of Delhi Police intercepted BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain, at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. This action was prompted by a lookout circular (LoC) issued against the couple, compelling them to halt their journey to New York.

The EOW officials stopped the duo before the security check, instructing them to return to their Delhi residence. Joint Commissioner of Police (EOW), Sindhu Pillai, stated that the couple is required to join the ongoing probe at the EoW office at Mandir Marg in the following week.

The lookout circular, according to Pillai, was solely intended to prevent the couple from traveling abroad. Grover and Jain were directed to cooperate with the probe upon their return to Delhi.

Reacting to the situation, Ashneer Grover took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his perspective on the events. He emphasized that he had not received any communication or summons from EOW until the morning of November 17, despite the FIR in May. Grover was en route to the US from November 16 to 23.

Grover explained that at immigration, he was informed about the LoC, which raised concerns as he had traveled internationally four times since the FIR without encountering any issues. Despite these circumstances, Grover’s flight left, and the EOW officials directed immigration to allow him to return home.

He assured cooperation with the EOW summon that was delivered to his home on the morning of November 17, stating, “will cooperate as always.” Grover also mentioned that the process to remove the LoC is underway, expressing confidence that he is not a flight risk and asserting that it is easy to prove.

The unfolding situation adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing legal matters involving Ashneer Grover and raises questions about the nature of the EOW probe. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
