Bangladesh Crisis: Indian High Commission’s New Advisory for Students and Nationals

In light of the political instability and violence before and after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation on August 5, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, released a notice for Indian Nationals residing in the nation today, August 7.

“The Indian community members and the Indian students residing in Bangladesh are advised to avoid local travel and minimize their movement outside their living premises,” the High Commission states in the advice.

The High Commission also provides five 24-hour emergency contact lines for the High Commission and Assistant High Commissions, and encourages Indian people to use these numbers in the event of an emergency.

These numbers can also be accessed through WhatsApp, the High Commission says.
