A chilling and tragic incident unfolded in Los Angeles when the lifeless body of 31-year-old model Maleesa Mooney was discovered in her downtown apartment, crammed inside a refrigerator. An autopsy report has now shed light on the grim details surrounding her death. The report indicates that Ms. Mooney had cocaine and alcohol in her bloodstream, in addition to signs of blunt force trauma, as she was found with her wrists and ankles tied and mouth gagged. While the cause of death is deemed “homicidal violence,” no arrests have been made in the case, leaving many questions unanswered.
Maleesa Mooney’s body was found in her upscale apartment on September 12, raising concerns and suspicions. Her wrists and ankles were bound, and her mouth was gagged. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office had already classified her death as “homicidal violence.” However, a recent autopsy report, obtained by The New York Post, unveils the harrowing circumstances of her discovery.
The autopsy disclosed that traces of cocaine and alcohol were present in Ms. Mooney’s system. The medical examiner noted that the blunt force traumatic injuries observed during the autopsy were not necessarily acutely life-threatening on their own. However, given the way Ms. Mooney was found, these injuries suggested she may have been involved in a violent physical altercation before her death. The report also acknowledged uncertainty about the role of drugs and alcohol in her demise.
Despite the alarming details surrounding Maleesa Mooney’s death, no arrests have been made in the case, as reported by PEOPLE. Her mother had called the police for a “welfare check” on the model, leading to the discovery of her body in the refrigerator. The apartment was described as having a pool of blood beneath her, heightening the suspicion of a violent crime.
Maleesa Mooney’s sister, Pauline, revealed that her late sister was two months pregnant at the time of her death and had eagerly looked forward to becoming a mother. She emphasized that Maleesa had a strong desire to have a child and had spoken about it frequently. Pauline also mentioned that her sister’s boyfriend was deeply affected by the tragic incident.
This disturbing case led to fear among local residents, especially in the wake of another model’s death in the downtown Los Angeles area. However, despite some similarities between the two cases, the police have clarified that the incidents are unrelated. The family of the other model, Nichole Coats, initially suspected foul play but an autopsy report later attributed her death to an accidental overdose of cocaine and alcohol.
