Senior AAP leader Atishi was chosen by MLAs as the next Chief Minister of Delhi, two days after Arvind Kejriwal said he would step down from the top post. Kejriwal is expected to resign at 4:30 pm following a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor.
Senior party leader Atishi has been selected by AAP MLAs to take Arvind Kejriwal’s place as the future chief minister of Delhi.
Sources told India Today that it was a toss up between Delhi ministers Atishi and Kailash Gehlot for the top post. However, Atishi’s name was backed by a majority of the legislative party members.There will be no deputy Chief Minister, sources said.
Kejriwal, who was granted bail in the liquor policy case last week, sent shockwaves through Delhi’s political circles after announcing on September 15.
