Ashok Gehlot Accuses BJP of Misusing Central Agencies for Political Gains

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot accused the BJP-led Union government of not wanting women, farmers, and the impoverished benefiting from the promises made by the Congress before the next Assembly elections, criticising the Enforcement Directorate’s action against Rajasthan Congress leaders.

“Central agencies have no credibility now. It is a worrying situation. This is not about my son or the state Congress president. Atank macha rakha hai desh mein (they have spread terror in the country),” he told the media.

Mr Gehlot said the ED raided the state Congress president without a notice. “ED raids against Govind Singh Dotasra has big political ramifications. He has worked tirelessly for the Congress.”

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan stated that Vaibhav Gehlot received a notification requesting his presence in Delhi today regarding the summons to this son. He said, “Is this a joke?” He said that Vaibhav had no ties with foreign exchange.

He remarked that the Congress is neither afraid nor concerned. He declared, “This will go against the BJP.”

The comments follow an ED search of Congress MLA Om Prakash Hudla’s and state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra’s homes in relation to the Rajasthan paper leak investigation. Additionally, the ED called Vaibhav Gehlot, Mr. Gehlot’s son, in connection with a suspected breach of foreign exchange rules.

“Now you can understand what I have been saying that ED’s raids are happening in Rajasthan because the BJP does not want women, farmers and the poor in Rajasthan to get the benefit of the guarantees given by the Congress,” he added.

The chief minister of Rajasthan pledged two assurances if the Congress is elected to power: cooking gas cylinders for 500 to over a crore families and a yearly stipend of 10,000 for female heads of families.

The BJP was also chastised by the top command of the Congress for the ED operations.

The head of the party, Mallikarjun Kharge, claimed that when elections arrive, the ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department transform into the true ‘panna pramukh’ of the BJP. Panna Pramukh is a crucial component of the BJP’s door-to-door voter outreach strategy in the election campaign.

“Seeing its certain defeat in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party made its last throw of the dice! After Chhattisgarh, the ED has also entered the election campaign in Rajasthan and started action against Congress leaders,” Mr Kharge posted on X.

“The dictatorship of the Modi government is fatal for democracy. We will continue to fight against the misuse of agencies, and the public will give a befitting reply to the BJP,” the Congress chief said.
