Virat Kohli, the cricketer who led Team India to a historic victory at the men’s T20 Cricket World Cup, returned to New Delhi and first met with his family. His sister, Bhawna Kohli Dhingra, shared photos on social media from their gathering, featuring Virat’s brother Vikas and his nephews and niece. Anushka Sharma, Virat’s wife and an actor, expressed her happiness with a heart emoji in the comments.
Bhawna wrote on Instagram, “Celebrating the win. SUPERPROUD.” The photos showed Virat smiling with his family, some of whom wore his champion’s medal. Team India achieved a thrilling win against South Africa in Barbados, their first major trophy in over ten years. Shortly after, both Virat and captain Rohit Sharma announced retirement from T20 internationals.
Anushka supported Virat throughout the tournament held in the United States and the West Indies, cheering for him from the stands. Team India plans to have breakfast with PM Narendra Modi and attend a BCCI felicitation at Wankhede Stadium, followed by a victory lap in Mumbai. Tickets for the ceremony are free on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Due to Hurricane Beryl, Team India faced delays returning home from Barbados.
