Anubhav Sinha is all set to make his streaming debut with IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. A thriller series based on the 1999 hijack of an Indian aircraft by five Pakistani militants, it has an ensemble cast and will premiere on Netflix India on August 29.
Netflix just released the IC814: The Kandahar Hijack series teaser based on the true events of the late 1999 hijacking of an Indian Airlines Airbus carrying around 188 passengers. Netflix posted the teaser of the series on Instagram with the caption, “188 onboard, and the entire nation held at gunpoint. Based on true events – IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, a limited series, arrives on August 29, only on Netflix!”
The gripping series is set over seven days, capturing the dramatic and high-stakes events that occured. Starring Vijay Varma, Patralekhaa, Pankaj Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Arvind Swami, and Dia Mirza, the show promises to offer a deep dive into the hijacking’s know-all and the struggles faced by the passengers and crew. The cast also includes Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Amrita Puri, Anupam Tripathi, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Pooja Gor, Kanwaljit Singh, Aditya Srivastava, Sushant Singh, and Yashpal Sharma.
The series depicts the spectacular hijacking of Flight IC 814, which was on its way from Kathmandu to New Delhi but was diverted to Kandahar. During the seven-day hijack, the crew and passengers endured several hardships while Indian officials fought diligently to gain their release.
