The Supreme Court on 6th March 2025, Thursday, strongly requested the courts to not keep matters concerning liberty after a long gap. This issue especially came to light after being informed that the Punjab and Haryana High Court posted the hearing of a plea for temporary bail on medical grounds after two months. 

The petitioner's counsel said that his client had approached the court because his 2 year old needed urgent medical surgery. The lawyer argued the High Court, in its order passed on February 21, posted the matter on April 22. 

A Bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and Augustine George Masih moved the petitioner for an early hearing after listening to his plea. “We expect the High Courts to at least give some weightage to our request," Justice Gavai said.
