Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Visits Beijing Amid US Inquiry Into Chip Exports

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made a surprise visit to Beijing on Thursday, just a day after a US House committee launched an inquiry into whether the company violated export rules by selling advanced chips to China. Huang met with Liang Wenfeng, CEO of the Chinese AI company DeepSeek, to discuss new chip designs for Chinese customers. He also held talks with senior Chinese officials, including Vice Premier He Lifeng.

During his visit, Huang emphasized the importance of the Chinese market to Nvidia, expressing hopes to continue cooperation with China, as reported by Chinese state media. This comes amid growing concerns in the US about Nvidia's chips potentially helping Chinese firms like DeepSeek gain an edge in the AI race.

The Trump administration previously restricted Nvidia's sales of H20 computer chips to China, a move that could cost the company up to $5.5 billion, according to Nvidia. A company spokesperson confirmed regular meetings with government leaders to discuss their products and technology.
