Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Mauritius on March 11, 2025, as the chief guest for the island nation's National Day celebrations. He was welcomed by Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and other senior leaders, with 200 dignitaries attending the ceremony.  

During his visit, India and Mauritius are set to sign agreements on trade, capacity building, and combating financial crimes. Modi will hold discussions with the country's leadership, engage with the Indian community, and inaugurate India-funded projects, including a civil service college and a health center.  

An Indian military contingent, a naval warship, and the Akash Ganga skydiving team will participate in the festivities. Modi emphasized Mauritius' significance as a key maritime ally, highlighting the strong historical and cultural ties between the two nations. Talks may also address the Chagos Islands dispute, as India supports Mauritius' negotiations with the U.K. over the archipelago's sovereignty.
