Ghaziabad Man Dies by Suicide, Blames Wife and In-Laws for Harassment in Final Note

A 34-year-old man from Ghaziabad’s Modinagar area, Mohit Tyagi, died two days after consuming poison in a suspected suicide attempt. In a note shared on WhatsApp, Mohit accused his wife Priyanka Tyagi and her relatives of mental harassment and extortion. His family alleged that he had been under extreme psychological stress due to repeated verbal abuse, threats of false legal action, and emotional mistreatment.

Mohit married Priyanka, from Sambhal district, in December 2020. The relationship reportedly deteriorated within months. In his letter, Mohit claimed Priyanka and her relatives intended to trap him and extract money. He also accused them of stealing jewellery and cash after his mother’s death.

On April 15, after receiving a call about a police complaint filed by his wife, Mohit consumed poison. He died on April 17 during treatment. His family filed a complaint naming five individuals.

Mohit’s note also expressed concern for his son’s safety and urged the UP CM to act against misuse of legal provisions in matrimonial disputes. A police investigation is ongoing.
