Garuda Aerospace Raises ₹100 Crore in Series B to Boost Defence Drone Tech

Drone startup Garuda Aerospace, supported by former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni, has secured ₹100 crore in its Series B funding round from early-stage investor Venture Catalysts, valuing the company at $250 million. The Chennai-based firm will use the funds to boost drone manufacturing, scale up production, and fast-track the development of an advanced R&D and testing facility focused on defence drones.

Founded in 2015, Garuda Aerospace produces over 30 types of drones and offers services such as drone-as-a-service (DaaS) and pilot training. The company has a fleet of 400 drones operating across 84 cities and serves more than 750 clients, including major corporations like Reliance, L&T, and Tata Group.

With over 20 patents, Garuda aims to strengthen its IP portfolio and defence capabilities. The firm posted ₹110.8 crore in revenue and ₹15.8 crore in profit for FY24. This funding follows growing demand for drones in agriculture, infrastructure, and surveillance, backed by government reforms. The company also holds DGCA approvals for drone type certification and pilot training.
