"Deeply Sorry": The Reason Kunal Kamra Gave A Vacation To A Man Who Saw His Performance
Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has expressed his "deepest apologies for the inconvenience" in response to news that a banker who attended his contentious event had to cancel his holiday after being summoned by police to be questioned. In order to arrange a vacation for him anyplace in India, Kunal Kamra has asked the banker to get in touch with him.
"I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience my show may have caused you. In a post on X, the comedian stated, "Please email me so that I can schedule your next vacation anywhere you'd like in India."

According to the banker from Kharghar in Navi Mumbai, he was traveling to Tamil Nadu and Kerala when he got a call requesting that he come before Mumbai Police. The banker claimed that he was summoned to testify as a witness in the defamation lawsuit against Kunal Kamra for his jests directed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, a representative of the Shiv Sena.
On March 28, police called the banker, who was scheduled to return from the 17-day vacation on April 6, and asked him to come in for interrogation on March 30.
"I was scheduled to return to Mumbai on April 6 after leaving on March 21 for the vacation. However, after receiving several calls from the police while in Tamil Nadu, I left in the middle. The officer who contacted me threatened to come to my home in Kharghar and expressed doubt regarding my out-of-town status. According to a report in The Times of India, he stated, "This led me to shorten my trip and return early."
"The police claimed that I might have altered the video that Kamra had taken, even though I had stated that I had purchased a ticket for the performance online and had documentation of my reservation. "Why will the comedian give me the video of his show to edit?" he asked.
According to Mumbai Police, nobody who attended Kunal Kamra's performance at Mumbai's Habitat studio, Naya Bharat, received any notices.
The popular song 'Bholi Si Surat' was parodied by Kunal Kamra in the show, which was filmed last month and posted to YouTube on March 24. This angered Eknath Shinde. Enraged fans of the Sena leader protested by vandalizing the studio in Khar. The civic organization BMC cited building law infractions as the reason for the demolition drive that also took place in the studio. However, there were concerns about the drive's timing.
Kunal Kamra has been the target of three police cases, and the Madras High Court has given him temporary protection from arrest. With the opposition accusing the NDA government of attacking freedom of speech and the Devendra Fadnavis administration defending its actions by stating that recklessness in the name of freedom will not be accepted, the crackdown on the comic caused a huge political controversy.
