A day before the expiration of the extended deadline for voluntarily surrendering looted and illegally held weapons in strife-torn Manipur, 32 more arms and ammunition were handed over in various districts in the state.

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla had extended the deadline for the surrender of looted and illegal arms till 4 pm on March 6, following demands by people from both hill and valley areas for additional time. The administration had also ensured that no punitive actions would be taken against those who surrendered their weapons within this period.

This move is seen as a crucial step in addressing the ongoing security concerns in the state, where ethnic tensions and armed conflicts have caused widespread violence.

As the deadline is nearing, the officials are closely monitoring the situation as an attempt to restore peace and harmony in the state.
