Amitabh Bachchan Transforms into 'Dronacharya's Son' Ashwatthama for Kalki 2898 AD

Nag Ashwin’s latest film, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, has hit theaters and is receiving glowing reviews. Amitabh Bachchan, part of the ensemble cast, is particularly lauded for his portrayal of Dronacharya’s son, Ashwatthama.

The film, set in a futuristic world inspired by Hindu mythology, portrays a story 6000 years into the future. Despite its fictional setting, Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Ashwatthama from the Mahabharata, stands out. Critics and audiences alike praise Bachchan, considering him the heart of the film, delivering powerful performances in every scene.

In ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, Bachchan appears in an aged and ancient avatar, requiring extensive prosthetic makeup. It took about four hours to create his look and an additional hour to remove it. Images shared by the makeup artist reveal the meticulous process involved in transforming Bachchan into Ashwatthama, showcasing detailed wrinkles and traditional features.

The prosthetic designer, Preetisheel Singh, shared images of Bachchan’s transformation, expressing satisfaction with the outcome. Karan Singh, responsible for setting the makeup, ensured that Bachchan’s appearance was authentic and convincing.

The film’s success at the box office is attributed in part to Bachchan’s compelling portrayal, resonating strongly with audiences and critics alike.
