Amitabh Bachchan, the iconic Bollywood actor, recently expressed his pride and best wishes for his grandson, Agastya Nanda, who is set to make his debut in Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming Netflix film, ‘The Archies.’ In a heartwarming Instagram Reels caption, Amitabh conveyed his blessings, stating, “Agastya my love, blessings and more… you carry the torch ably ahead.” The esteemed actor also tagged the entire cast and crew of the film, showcasing his support for the venture.
Agastya Nanda, making waves with his entry into Bollywood, will portray the iconic character Archie Andrews in this much-anticipated adaptation of the popular Archies Comics. Despite Agastya’s absence from social media, his sister, Navya Naveli Nanda, responded to Amitabh’s post with emojis, joining a chorus of well-wishers that included Mihir Ahuja, Divya Dutta, Zoya Akhtar, and Tara Sharma.
Notably, ‘The Archies’ not only marks Agastya’s debut but also introduces Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, and the late Sridevi’s daughter, Khushi Kapoor, to the silver screen. The film, set in the 1960s in the fictional town of Riverdale, India, promises a nostalgic journey based on the beloved Archies Comics characters.
The trailer for ‘The Archies,’ released recently, unveiled seven key characters, including Archie (Agastya Nanda), Betty (Khushi Kapoor), Veronica (Suhana Khan), Jughead (Mihir Ahuja), Reggie (Vedang Raina), Ethel (Dot), and Dilton (Yuvraj Menda). Crafted by the talented trio of Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, and Ayesha Devitre, and produced by Tiger Baby, Graphic India, and Archie Comics, the film is scheduled to start streaming on Netflix from December 7.
In another nod of approval, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar shared his thoughts on Zoya Akhtar’s work, highlighting her resilience and commitment to her craft. Johar praised Zoya for her journey, from ‘Luck By Chance’ to the critically acclaimed ‘ZNMD,’ showcasing her ability to stay true to her vision against various challenges.
