Amit Shah Wins Gandhinagar Seat for Second Time

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister and head of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), defeated Sonal Patel, the nearest Congress opponent, by an astounding margin of more than 7.44 lakh votes on Tuesday to win the Gujarat Lok Sabha seat of Gandhinagar, the Election Commission of India revealed.

After the ballots for the coveted seat were counted, the ECI announced the results. Amit Shah had 10,10,972 votes, whereas Patel had 2,66,256 lakh votes.

For the second time in a row, the BJP mainstay has won the seat. Amit Shah won the seat in the 2019 elections with a margin of more than 5.57 lakh votes.

Gandhinagar was previously represented in the Lok Sabha by Lal Krishna Advani, a veteran member of the BJP.

Former Prime Minister Ata Bihari Vajpayee won the seat in 1996, though he preferred to retain Lucknow which also he had bagged then.
