In New Delhi, 200 tribal Youth participate in interactions with Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah as part of the Tribal students Exchange Programme (TYEP).
The Union Home Minister told the tribal youth during their meeting that there are many chances for members of the tribal group nowadays. The fact that Smt. Droupadi Murmu, an Indian tribal woman, is the president and is a source of pride, he remarked. Shri Shah stated that in remembrance of the tribal freedom fighters who gave their all during the nation’s freedom struggle, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has decided to construct ten tribal museums throughout the nation at a cost of Rs 200 crore.
The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, has criticized Left Wing Extremists for hindering the country’s development and future.
He emphasized that violence cannot provide jobs and that it is crucial for tribal youth to join mainstream society for development and infrastructure creation. Shah also emphasized the importance of tribal youth in eradicating Left Wing Extremism and urged them to not follow the wrong path.
He emphasized that the country is progressing in every field and there are ample opportunities for tribals. Shah emphasized that wealth, knowledge, and respect can only be achieved through hard work, not birthplace. He urged tribal youth to remind everyone back home that the country is progressing in every field.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has been running the Tribal Youth Exchange Programme (TYEP) for the last 15 years. The programme is being run through Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Under this programme, young men and women of the tribal community from the interior areas most affected by Left Wing Extremism are taken on a tour to major cities and metros across the country. The main objectives of this programme are:
- Promoting the aspirations of the youth in areas affected by Left Wing Extremism.
- Countering the propaganda against the government being spread by CPI Maoists.
- Informing the youth of tribal areas about the development activities and industrial progress and to sensitize them about the rich cultural heritage of India.
- Deepening the confidence in democratic system in these areas.
- Spreading awareness about major development and welfare schemes among the youth of the tribal community.
- Developing an emotional bonding between youth belonging to the tribal community and their peer groups in other parts of the country.
The Tribal Youth Exchange Programme (TYEP) has attracted 25,880 participants from the tribal community since 2006-07 to 2022-23. Over the past nine years, 20,700 participants have participated, and 10,200 in the last four years. This year, 5000 young men and women are participating, with an increase from 2000 participants in 2000 to 5000 in 2022.
The programme includes interactions with constitutional authorities, senior government officials, and role models in sports, industry, and arts. Other activities include industry exposure trips, speech competitions, skill development, career guidance, sports events, security force camps, and cultural programs. When the participants return to their native areas, they share their experiences with other youth and residents.
This year, 25 groups of youth will tour major cities and metros across the country, with each group containing 200 young men and women from interior areas most affected by Left Wing Extremism. Three groups will visit New Delhi this year, with the first group visiting from 15th to 21st October.
