For the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, a new 100-meter steel bridge was inaugurated on August 25 in the vicinity of Silvassa in Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
This 1464 MT steel bridge, which is 14.3 m wide and 14.6 m tall, was built in a workshop in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, and then trailered to the installation location.
In order to launch without the need for an intermediary support, a temporary launching snout measuring 84 meters in length and 600 MT was attached to the main bridge. To reinforce the bridge during launching, more temporary members were also added.
About 55,250 Tor-Shear Type High Strength (TTHS) bolts with C5 system coating and elastomeric bearings were used for the main bridge, and 27,500 HSFG (High-strength friction grip) bolts were used to link the parts of the launching nose.
The steel bridge and launching nose were erected close to the location at a height of 14.5 meters above the ground on makeshift trestles. They were hauled by two semi-automatic jacks, each with a 250-ton capacity, and mac-alloy bars.
The Bullet Train project is being carried out with extreme care, upholding the highest standards of engineering brilliance and safety. India is progressively using its own technical and material resources, leveraging Japanese knowledge, to construct infrastructure under the “Make in India” initiative.
For the Bullet Train route, this is the fourth completed steel bridge out of a total of 28.
Twenty of the project’s twenty river bridges are located in Gujarat, while four are located in Maharashtra. In Gujarat, ten of the twenty bridges have been finished.
On September 14, 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe officially opened the project in Ahmedabad.
The goal of National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which was established on February 12, 2016, in accordance with the Companies Act, 2013, is to finance, build, maintain, and oversee the High-Speed Rail Corridor in India.
The Company has been modeled as a ‘Special Purpose Vehicle’ in the joint sector with equity participation by the Central Government through the Ministry of Railways and two State Governments — Government of Gujarat and Government of Maharashtra.
