All India Cine Workers’ Body Urges PM Modi to Ban Adipurush, Calls for Action Against Director and Writers

In a fresh controversy surrounding the highly anticipated film ‘Adipurush,’ the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging an immediate ban on the movie. The association, led by President Suresh Shyam Lal Gupta, has also called for the filing of an FIR against the film’s director, Om Raut, co-writer Manoj Muntashir, and the producers. The letter cites concerns over the alleged defamation of Hindu deities Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, as well as the visual effects used to depict the character of Ravana.

The screenplay and dialogues of ‘Adipurush’ have come under scrutiny, with claims that they have tarnished the image and reverence of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. The AICWA expresses deep concern over the portrayal of these revered figures in a manner that allegedly diminishes their significance and portrays them in a manner resembling characters from a video game.

Criticism of ‘Adipurush’ has been mounting in recent weeks, with particular attention drawn to the film’s dialogues and visual effects. The controversy has sparked a heated debate within the film industry and among audiences, leading to calls for action to protect religious sentiments.

The AICWA’s letter to Prime Minister Modi highlights the need for immediate intervention to prevent any potential harm to religious sentiments. The association asserts that the alleged depiction of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman in an unfavorable light not only disrespects the faith of millions of Hindus but also undermines the social harmony that the country strives to uphold.

Moreover, the AICWA raises concerns regarding the visual effects employed in the film, specifically in the portrayal of the character Ravana. The association suggests that the VFX used may not be up to the expected standards, giving the impression that the character resembles a video game avatar rather than an authentic depiction of the mythical figure.

The demand for an FIR against the film’s director, co-writer, and producers stems from the belief that their involvement in the creation of ‘Adipurush’ has resulted in the alleged defamation and disregard for religious sentiments. The AICWA seeks legal action to ensure accountability and to discourage any future instances that may lead to the incitement of religious discord.
