The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has now placed four courses under its ambit — BBA, BBM, BMS, and BCA — and wants to produce model curriculum as well as alter the examination format.
Experts, including academics and industry leaders, will create the model curricula, and institutions will be forced to follow 80% of the model while preserving the ability to customize the remaining part to meet local requirements.
The model curriculum for BBA and BCA programs will be implemented beginning with the academic year 2024-25. So far, the curriculum for these programs has been developed by the universities involved.
The AICTE also intends to develop outcome-based textbooks and implement examination changes in order to move away from the regular examinations that colleges now administer.
All arts and science colleges would need to seek clearance from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to provide BBA and BCA degrees effective in 2024-25.
So far, institutions have received clearance from affiliated universities for BBA and BCA courses, as well as from the AICTE for MCA and MBA courses. Other courses, such as BCom and BA, would be excluded from the AICTE.
AICTE approval can be obtained by providing the fundamental information for the All-India Survey on Higher Education.
