Abhishek Sharma Credits Father’s Advice for his Big-Hitting Skills

23-year-old Abhishek Sharma showcased fearless batting, crediting his father’s advice for his big-hitting style in T20 cricket. After scoring his first T20 international century for India, Abhishek reflected on his mental approach to aggressive batting.

His quick-fire hundred from 47 balls led India to victory over Zimbabwe in the second T20I of the series in Harare on Sunday.

Abhishek had a challenging debut in the first match where he was dismissed for a duck. However, he bounced back strongly in the second game, starting aggressively right from the beginning. Despite losing captain Shubman Gill early, Abhishek made an impact with his powerful strokes, including reaching his fifty with a six in the 11th over.

The highlight of Abhishek’s innings was reaching his century in style with three consecutive sixes off Wellington Masakadza. In total, he smashed eight sixes and seven boundaries, helping India post a formidable total of 234 for 2 in 20 overs.

Reflecting on his performance, Abhishek humbly acknowledged his hard work, saying, “Sixer King? Well, I don’t feel like that. I think it’s all the hard work that I have done.” He also gave credit to his father for encouraging him to play lofted shots from a young age, despite traditional coaching advice against it.
