The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday announced a list of 20 candidates for the forthcoming Delhi elections. Manish Sisodia, a three-term MLA from Delhi’s Patparganj seat, has been nominated from Jangpura this time.
Sisodia has been replaced by Avadh Ojha, a civil service coach who recently joined the AAP.
The list also includes the names of Jintender Singh Shunty (fielded from Shahdara) and Surinder Pal Singh Bittu (Timarpur), who recently quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to join the AAP.
Shunty replaces sitting AAP MLA and Speaker in the outgoing Assembly Ram Niwas Goel, while Bittu has been fielded in place of Dilip Pandey, AAP’s chief whip in the house.
Here’s the full list of candidates as released by the party.
In November, the party presented its initial slate of 11 candidates.
The ruling AAP is in the process of selecting candidates for the Delhi assembly elections in 2025.
In the 2020 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party eliminated 15 incumbent MLAs from its list of 70 candidates and nominated 24 fresh faces.
These included current Chief Minister Atishi, the party’s Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha, and Dilip Pandey. These three failed in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The 70-member Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to take place before February.
