WATCH: Cricket Fans Clash in Arun Jaitley Stadium During World Cup Match

On Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Team India showcased their prowess, clinching an emphatic victory against Afghanistan with eight wickets to spare in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. However, amidst the roars of triumph and the cheer of victory, chaos erupted in the stands as Indian and Afghan fans engaged in a violent brawl during the high-octane match.

The shocking scenes of mayhem were captured in a viral video that quickly spread across social media platforms. The disturbing footage depicts fans exchanging slaps and punches, revealing the extent of the full-blown brawl that unfolded within the hallowed grounds of the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

This is not the first instance of such disgraceful behavior occurring at this esteemed cricketing venue. Earlier this year, during an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season match between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, a similar clash amongst fans was witnessed. It is a troubling trend that stadium management and authorities must address urgently to maintain the sanctity of the sport.

Regrettably, these events are not unique to this cricketing tournament alone. In a recent incident, fans from Afghanistan and Pakistan were embroiled in a brawl after an ODI match in Colombo. A ten-second clip of the altercation went viral on social media, leaving one to think about the aftermath of those moments. The clip also featured an exchange of heated words, serving as a testament to the intensity of the rivalry.

Even last year, during the Asia Cup 2022, fans from both nations locked horns at the Sharjah stadium. The clashes not only marred the sporting spirit but also resulted in property damage at the stadium. The catalyst for this chaos was a heated confrontation between Afghan bowler Fareed Ahmed and Pakistani batter Asif Ali during a crucial match’s final moments.

Unfortunately, this unsavory incident played a part in Afghanistan’s exit from the Asia Cup, adding further fuel to the rivalry’s flames.
