Currently, both Kohli and Kumble share the distinction of securing the most catches in the history of the ODI World Cup for India.
In the annals of ODI World Cup history, both Kohli and Kumble have snared 14 catches each while representing India. Kumble achieved this feat in 18 matches, whereas Kohli accomplished it in 26.
Returning to rigorous training after a brief hiatus, Virat Kohli’s extended practice session took center stage during India’s inaugural training session in the city, leading up to their World Cup clash with Australia on Sunday.
In the realm of cricket, it is not commonplace to conduct closed-door training sessions, as strategies are usually well-established. However, the Indian team opted for privacy on Wednesday, shutting out media access during their practice.
The primary talking point revolves around India’s bowling composition, specifically whether they will include an extra seamer in Mohammed Shami or opt for the local hero Ravichandran Ashwin, depending on the playing surface.
With Hardik Pandya contributing 6-7 overs per game, the allure of deploying Ashwin, known for his mind games, remains strong.
Virat Kohli began his training regimen with customary throw-ins, followed by encounters with local net bowlers.
While the session was originally slated for two hours, Virat Kohli extended his practice by an additional 45 minutes. This extended preparation becomes crucial since the team missed out on two warm-up games, valuable for simulation.
Although Kohli was absent for the initial two games of the series against Australia, he made a remarkable comeback in the final ODI in Rajkot, crafting a composed innings of 56 runs from 61 deliveries.
