At Mathura Junction, a train derails, no casualties are reported

At Mathura Junction, a train traveling from Delhi derailed and climbed onto a platform. The incident happened Tuesday night on an electrical multiple unit (EMU) train. According to PTI, no casualties were reported. The train’s engine caused damage to a section of the platform and an electric pole. The train’s engine could be seen close to the station name board in videos published by various news organizations. After ascending the platform and striking the electric pole, the EMU came to a stop.

The news agency cited railway station director SK Srivastava as saying that the train was coming from Shakur Basti. Before the disaster, all of the passengers had disembarked the train, he continued.

A high-level inquiry into the situation has been requested by the railways.

Authorities claim that at 10.49 p.m. on Tuesday, the train arrived at Mathura Junction. It rolled down the track after all the passengers had disembarked, climbed onto platform 2A, and then hit the curb, coming to a stop. They also mentioned that a woman who had received an electric shock had received first assistance.

Although the event caused damage to part of platform 2A and restricted train movement from that location, other services remain operational as usual.

Days prior, a 12-year-old boy in West Bengal waved his red shirt in the direction of an approaching passenger train, preventing a serious accident.

Just in time, the loco-pilot saw the boy and applied the emergency brakes to stop the train. Mursalin Seikh was identified as the adolescent by PTI.

“Mursalin Seikh, a young boy who was the son of a migrant worker from a neighboring village, was also in the yard with the railway workers. The boy, along with other on-duty railway employees, waved his red shirt to alert the loco pilot of an approaching passenger train after spotting a rain-damaged area under the tracks, according to Sabyasachi De, chief public relations officer for Northeast Frontier Railway.

Last Thursday, the event happened close to the Bhaluka Road Yard.
