PM Modi Hails Historic Women’s Reservation Bill at BJP HQ: ‘A Revolutionary Effect’

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sincere congratulations to Indian women for the success of the “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam” (Women’s Reservation Bill) in Parliament. The Indian prime minister praised the women and emphasised the importance of the decision, admitting that future generations would talk about how it had a revolutionary effect.

I congratulate the mothers, sisters, and daughters of India,” he declared, addressing a cheering gathering at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. On September 21 and 22, we witnessed the making of a new chapter in history. It is an honour that people have given us the chance to write this history.

According to Modi, “some decisions have the power to change the future of the country, and we are witness to one such decision.”

“The passing of this bill in both houses of the Parliament shows how a country with a majority government can work. We never let anyone’s political self-interests obstruct women’s reservation,” he said.

During the Nari Shakti Vandan-Abhinandan Karyakram, a function held to commemorate the historic law and recognise the achievements of women to the country, Prime Minister Modi delivered the remarks. One day after Parliament approved the women’s reservation bill, he was given a warm welcome at the BJP headquarters by the party’s female branch.

“The majority that you gave to us is the reason why this government is able to take such decisions. We took decisions for betterment of women at all levels, didn’t let anyone’s political interest become a roadblock in the way of women’s reservation (bill),” PM Modi said.

“This law has proved that a full-majority government, a strong government, a decisive government is a must to take the nation forward,” he added.

At the party headquarters where he was welcomed, several women, including recipients of various government programmes, were present. J P Nadda, the head of the BJP, female Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, and Smriti Irani, as well as other party officials, were there.
