G20 Summit at Bharat Mandapam Showcases India’s Rich Culture and Heritage

The G20 Summit, which is taking place this weekend in the nation’s capital and will feature top world leaders like US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, is a highly anticipated occasion.

The International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC), popularly known as Bharat Mandapam, is where the summit will take place in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. On July 26 of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened this complex. Modern amenities like a convention facility, exhibition spaces, and an amphitheatre are available there.

The “culture corridor” in Bharat Mandapam, also known as the G20 Summit, will display various customs from 29 nations, including India and the G20 Special Invitees, during the summit. This exhibit will combine real-world and digital presentations to give viewers an immersive experience.

On Tuesday, a 27-foot-tall bronze Nataraja statue made of Ashtadhatu and weighing around 18 tonnes was placed at Bharat Mandapam. This sculpture was created by renowned sculptor Radhakrishnan Sthapaty from Swami Malai in Tamil Nadu and his team in a record-breaking seven months.

The majestic Nataraja statue at Bharat Mandapam brings elements of our rich history and culture to life, PM Modi wrote in a tweet announcing the installation. The G20 summit will serve as a showcase for India’s timeless artistry and traditions as the globe gathers for it.

Bharat Mandapam, India’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination, has been created over a roughly 123-acre site. This complex is one of the best exhibition and convention complexes in the world in terms of the covered space accessible for events.

Know About Bharat Mandapam

According to a government statement, the Bharat Mandapam was originally intended to serve as a platform for public festivities and was inspired by “Lord Basaveshwara’s concept of Anubhav Mandapam.” This vast complex will be accessible to the general public and provide in-depth facilities in support of the country’s goal of developing into a modern society.

Bharat Mandapam was built as a national project with an estimated cost of 2,700 crores. According to a government statement, Bharat Mandapam acts as a “showcase and promoter of India as a premier global business destination.”

The grand international exhibitions, trade fairs, conventions, conferences, and other high-profile events can all be held in this architectural marvel.

Bharat Mandapam can accommodate a variety of events thanks to its multitude of amenities, which include multiple meeting rooms, lounges, auditoriums, an amphitheatre, and a fully-stocked business centre.

Up to 7,000 people can be seated in its magnificent plenary hall and multi-purpose hall, which is more than the famed Sydney Opera House in Australia can hold.

The spectacular Amphitheatre has 3,000 seats, enhancing its adaptability and grandeur.
