Dharmendra Pradhan Launches Malaviya Mission for Teacher Training by UGC

Today, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Malaviya Mission – Teachers Training Programme by the University Grants Commission in New Delhi.

The programme aims to provide tailored training programs for teachers, focusing on capacity building of faculty members in higher educational institutions. The programme was inaugurated by the University Grants Commission in association with the Ministry of Education.

The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Education and UGC, as well as Vice Chancellors of several universities. The programme aims to improve the quality of education at all levels by infusing quality and excellence in teachers and teaching methods. The programme will ensure continuous professional development and help build capacities of 15 lakh teachers of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through 111 Malaviya Mission centres across India.

The programme is an endeavor to make educators future-ready with a deeper understanding of Indian values, improving the quality of teachers’ training, building leadership skills, and helping realize the goals of National Education Policy (NEP). Capacity building under the Malaviya Mission will be mapped to the credit framework to ensure career progression pathways for educators.

The programme will also incorporate themes discussed during India’s G20 Presidency, such as the deployment of technology in education, achieving sustainable development goals, and women-led development.

The two-week online program will focus on various themes identified for course curriculum/content for capacity building of faculty members at higher educational institutions. To facilitate this transformative journey, the UGC has established a dedicated portal for faculty members to register for the capacity-building programmes.
