The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Meta have announced the beginning of the ‘Creators of Metaverse’ program, a ground-breaking effort aimed at educating India’s youth for a future of immersive technology. The ceremony was held at the AICTE offices in New Delhi.
The ‘Creators of Metaverse’ program will be overseen by One Million for One Billion (1M1B), according to an official announcement. Through the Meta Spark platform, it aims to provide 100,000 college students and 20,000 faculty members with the necessary knowledge and technical abilities in Augmented Reality (AR).
The AICTE Training and Learning Bureau (TLB) program will play a critical role in altering India’s education landscape and encouraging youth creativity.
Senior executives from AICTE and Meta discussed their perspectives on the future of work and how the programme will empower kids to become creators and innovators fit for the future of work at the inaugural event. Furthermore, the event included AR projects made by students during the pilot phase of the course, showing the program’s potential to influence career choices through the power of immersive technologies.
T G Sitharam, chairman of AICTE, Ramesh Unnikrishnan, advisor to AICTE, and other top officials were among those in attendance at the inaugural event. Furthermore, Meta, represented by Natasha Jog, head of Instagram Policy and Policy Programsme, India, and Shivang Raina, policy programmes manager, India, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering technological advances in education. 1M1B representatives were also present to promote the effort.
“The “Creators of Metaverse” program is in line with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is an important step towards preparing youth for future jobs.” “The collaboration with Meta is a significant step towards driving innovation and preparing India’s workforce for the Metaverse era,” Sitharam added.
In conjunction with the launch event, Meta reaffirmed its commitment to working with over 10 million children and over one million instructors across India’s schools, with an emphasis on digital citizenship and AR-VR education. “Through this programme, we hope to foster the next generation of problem solvers, creators, and solopreneurs who will use the power of augmented reality to create innovative solutions.”
“We are committed to empowering youth to be job-ready by providing them with the most up-to-date technological skills through a comprehensive program that spans their college to professional journey,” Jog added.
The Creators of Metaverse programme is an immersive learning experience that allows students to explore the world of augmented reality while also developing their creative potential. The programme has a gamified approach and a 10-day, 20-hour curriculum that includes instructor-led workshops, group mentoring, and project-based tasks.
Students will be able to work with industry-grade AR software tools and resources while developing their portfolios and professional networks and gaining virtual workplace experience. Students enrolled in the program will also receive assistance in becoming Meta certified Meta Spark creators through one-on-one mentoring for the Meta Spark Creator Exam.
