As the Manipur issue continues to hamper Parliamentary operations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with key ministers on Wednesday to discuss the government’s approach in both houses.
According to ANI sources, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Pralhad Joshi, Piyush Goyal, Anurag Singh Thakur, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Arjun Ram Meghwal attended the meeting.
Mallikarjun Kharge is scheduled to meet with President Murmu today. The meeting takes place on the same day when Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, led a 21-member delegation of I.N.D.I.A MPs to see President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The meeting was set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
The delegation addressed the situation in Manipur by submitting a memorandum.
Kharge talked to media earlier today about their goal of bringing the important problem to the President’s notice during the visit. “Today, at 11.30 a.m., we will meet madam President (Droupadi Murmu) and will bring to the President’s attention the situation in Manipur and our experiences from our visit to the state,” Kharge added.
Under Rule 267, the Opposition has insisted on a full debate of the strife-torn state.
Earlier, before of the opening of the Monsoon Session, PM Modi slammed a rumoured video that went viral on social media depicting two women being stripped and paraded naked, stating the culprits will be found and prosecuted.
