AICTE Allows Technical Schools to Offer B.Tech and B.E. Programs to Working Professionals

According to officials, technical schools affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education can now offer Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Engineering programs to working professionals. The regulator has requested applications from these institutes to begin offering courses this academic year.

The move was made to help working professionals continue their education and students who cannot pay the fees for higher technical education but want to get a degree while working, according to officials.

AICTE would approve a maximum of three programs per institute, with a maximum intake of 30 seats each, according to AICTE member secretary Rajiv Kumar. “A minimum of ten working professionals will be required to run the course in an academic year,” he explained. “The core disciplines with specialization in upcoming technologies will be given preference.”
